Sometimes a 'build it and they will come' approach is not enough. As part of the Government's flagship Apprenticeships agenda, the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) developed the Apprenticeships vacancies system (built by Capgemini), which aimed to match potential apprentices with employers offering apprenticeships.
However, training materials for this system lagged behind, resulting in out-of-date knowledge, a lack of stakeholder confidence and a heavy demand on other support routes (call centre, face-face etc.) As a result, providing the various audiences (candidates, support service partners, learning providers etc.) with good quality training materials was a constant battle.
