Icecandy is a digital studio delivering branding, design and animation for all media including interactive, film, TV, video, mobile and print. As well as being available for work-for-hire we also develop our own original content, including software development and animation series production.  We don’t just do design though. We conceive, creatively direct, manage and implement projects from start to finish covering all aspects of audio-visual and interactive production.

Along with our partner Transparent, a Soho-based commercials production company, we also provide live-action services.  We are a small nucleus, seeding some of the best talent in the industry. This includes designers, animators, editors, programmers and composers: many of whom are award-winning and top-of-their-field in their own right.

Please browse the sections above to find examples of our work in Branding; graphic design and programming (Web, CD-ROM, DVD, Print, Presentation, Character) and animation (2D, 3D, Motion graphics, Live Action+).

What we do

Icecandy Entertainment is an animation and multimedia company working in the fields of television, film and interactive media. With a history dating back to 1992, we have provided these services to many different clients in the corporate, educational and entertainment fields. Our speciality - and a large proportion of our work - has been in the entertainment sector working with film, television, commercials, music, animation and multimedia production companies, agencies and distribution companies. In interactive, we specialise in designing web sites with HTML, Flash and Director Shockwave and CD-ROMs with advanced lingo and custom Xtras within Director. We are a design led company, but are able to offer additional technical programming services such as database and server-side development if needed. In animation, we specialise in creating, designing and animating cartoon and life-like characters in both 2D and 3D and animating motion graphics for film and television. In 3D, we build complex models and the rigs to control them. 2D design and animation can start on paper or the computer, and although we specialise in animation production using computers and are very highly skilled in the technical area, we always put the creative spark first.

History
From 1992 to 1995, we acted as the major content provider for Stone Tiger Entertainment, developing the concepts and implementation of state-of-the-art interactive narrative experiences for delivery on CD-ROM. Highlights include working with Buichi Terasawa, - famous in Japan as one of their top manga artists - responsible for "Takeru" and many other graphic novel "Manga" series, such as "Space Cobra".

From 1996 - 1999, we provided animation for Total Control Media's 3D interactive television games - which have been broadcast in three continents - and other 2D and 3D animation projects used in the advertising and television entertainment industries. In the corporate sector, we designed and programmed CD-ROMs for Rothschild bank, one of the largest privately owned financial institutions in the world. During this period, we also developed CD-ROMs for the UK educational market for which we have won several awards (see awards section). From 1999 - 2000, Icecandy developed web sites for various companies, including work on a children's TV programme site called The Number Crew for Channel 4 television in the UK.

Early in 2000, we provided interactive design services for Salus Media, a company run by Peter Douglas - brother of film star Michael. Shortly afterwards Icecandy moved it’s operational base to Los Angeles to work with Believe Media, a Hollywood production company who work on accounts for clients such as Sony, Nintendo, Coca-cola and BMW. We provided design and animation services for broadband entertainment vehicles working with Extasy Records, promoting one of their hottest new bands Sub-bionic; the Fallon agency, out of Minneapolis; BMW, working on concepts for their BMW films site, which features noted directors such as John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie; The Beatles, working on animation concepts for their web site; Target and Dole Fruit, developing interactive marketing tools; developing web sites for one of the leading commercials and music video directors Floria Sigismondi; designing web sites and DVDs for various Hollywood production companies, including Spike Jonze's film production company.

Since returning to London in 2002, Icecandy have been consolidating on their unique international experience and contacts gained in Los Angeles. We still work internationally and over the last few years have worked with clients in California, Finland, South Africa and New Zealand. For the most recent developments please see the News section.
