I trained at the Constructive Teaching Centre under the late Walter Carrington - a three-year full-time course - and am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT).
The Alexander technique is a way of better understanding our physical and mental response to situations, and learning to use our bodies and minds in a way that creates less strain and discomfort in the process. It has been helpful in many cases of muscular pain, in aiding perfomers of all kinds (acting, musical, sporting) to develop their confidence and skills, and as a general self-development technique.
I currently teach one-to-one Alexander technique lessons and also work with singers (and "non-singers" who would like to learn to sing) using the principles of the Technique to produce a more comfortable and natural sound.
