The Gym
Introduction
Our gymnasium is superbly equipped, naturally; but our main asset is
our team of highly qualified physiologists, who have the time to look
after you in a personal and professional manner. As a Hogarth full or
off peak member, you receive 5 personal training sessions in your first
month of membership. These are followed by one complimentary personal
training session every month of your membership. Personal Training Xtra
is available at a nominal charge.
Individual Approach
Whether you intend to use the gym or not, all members are invited to
have an initial consultation. Here, a member of the gymnasium team -
your exercise mentor - will carry out a brief health screen, a choice
of relevant fitness measures, and having listened to your requirements
and preferences, tailor an exercise programme to help you achieve your
agreed goals. You will also be offered a complimentary cholesterol test
and lypid screen.
Gym Equipment
Our fully equipped gymnasium has a full complement of treadmills,
cross trainers, bikes, rowers as well as resistance training equipment
and free weights.
Unlike other health clubs, at the Hogarth you will find that equipment is always available to you, without the need to queue.
Measured Success
As a gym user, you are given the opportunity to use our interactive
Fitlinxx System which will guide you through your gym sessions and
enable you to keep track of your overall progress.
Entertainment
Our gym is fully equipped with the Cardio Theatre audiovisual
system, allowing you to keep up to date with the latest news, sport or
music while you work out. On many of the cardiovascular machines there
are personalised plasma screens and even individual DVD players on
which you can watch your favourite movie whist burning away calories.
Nutritional Guidance
The Gymnasium team are happy to provide guidance and information on
nutrition. Various approaches are provided including simple
presentations of healthy eating, basic dietary plans, on-line calorie
counting, through to performance diets. Most recently, metabolic
profiling has been made available as an additional service which
combines optimal dietary plans with optimal exercise routines.
Cholesterol Screening
The Gymnasium staff are now all qualified to carry out Cholesterol
Screening and interpret the results for you during a normal room based
appointment. If you have yet to have your cholesterol levels measured,
or indeed have not had it measured in the past 12 months, all members
are invited to participate in the screening process. The analysis is
available as part of our ongoing commitment to providing a screening
for coronary heart disease of which elevated cholesterol is a major
risk factor.
For further information on cholesterol, pick up a cholesterol guide
from the gymnasium. Please do approach a member of the Gymnasium team
to arrange your appointment.
Swimming Pool
Train or Relax
The swimming pool is 18 metres in length with a level depth
providing the perfect balance for training, aqua aerobics and
relaxation.
At night, the swimming pool is mood lit to create a tranquil,
relaxing environment that allows you to wile away the stresses of the
day.
Spa Pool
Aside from the physiological benefits of hydrotherapy on the body's
musculature, the 6 person spa is the perfect place to mentally unwind.
Heated at a perfect 48 degrees centigrade, the Hogarth spa is the ideal
way to end your day.
Sauna
The principal benefit of the sauna is relaxation. The deep warmth
and feeling of lassitude combined with one or more showers and rest
periods should give the user a pleasant, mellow feeling. The heat also
creates ideal conditions for skin toning and cleansing.
The effect of the hot-cool-hot sensation allows the skin pores to
open and close to extreme, flushing out impurities and leaving the skin
thoroughly refreshed.
Steam Room
As soon as you step into the steam room, warmth opens the pores of
the skin creating a flow of perspiration that lifts out the grime of
everyday life. Your skin is cleansed and toned leaving it feeling soft,
supple and healthy as you emerge rested and rejuvenated, ready to take
on the world and all it can throw at you.
Squash
Squash has been a part of The Hogarth Group since the late 1960's. Lambton Squash Club (now Lambton Place Health Club)
in Notting Hill flourished in the 1970's and early 1980's. The
Hogarth's squash court which is used extensively by members and some
staff (we have a couple of ex National and County ranked players in our
midsts!)
Squash is an intense game. It is both physically and mentally
challenging. Most of all though it is great fun. Courts at the Hogarth
can be booked 7 days in advance and there is no charge. Every week from
6pm until 10pm on a Friday there is Squash Club Night. The courts are
all booked out so that players can turn up and join in a social game of
squash with the intention of meeting players of similar standards,
followed up by the consumption of beer in the Bar afterwards perhaps?
Each year we run the Hogarth Squash Tournament held over 1 evening
on a knockout basis. Members compete for the Hogarth Cup. For those
members who wish to compete all year long, we have a Squash ladder.
This allows members to challenge each other, thereby vying for the top
position on the ladder.
