Lessons
Tiny Tot
Tiny Tot offers an introduction to riding
for the very young.

Age limits: 4 - 5 years. Experience: Beginner. Time: 20 minutes.
This lesson is suitable for young children who are keen to
ride. Tiny Tot gives an introduction to riding, walking, and
trotting on a pony around the yard, plus a walk up Roundknowe
Road. A change in our insurance means we can no longer offer
Tiny Tot rides to youngsters under 4 years old.
Lead Rein
Lead Rein is suitable for children wanting
to experience riding ponies with a view to regular lessons.
Age limits: 5 years and over. Experience: Beginner. Time: 30
minutes, progressing to 1 hour. Each child has a dedicated lead
rein handler during all classes to offer support and advice.
Working on balance, rhythm, co-ordination and rider confidence.
As an introduction to the yard we also start each rider off with
a 30 minute private assessment.
Novice
Novice follows on from Lead Rein.
Age limits: 5 years and over. Experience: Beginner. Time: 1
hour.
Learn more about a horse's temperament, attitude, and instincts,
and working with other riders. Work in three paces — walk, trot,
and canter, progressing on to pole work and general handling. As
an introduction to the yard we also start each rider off with a
30 minute private assessment.
Intermediate
Intermediate follows on from Novice.
Age limits: none. Experience: Novice. Time: 1 hour.
Improving seat, balance, position on horse and working in all
four paces — walk, trot, canter and gallop. General handling,
plus an introduction to jumping and hacking. As an introduction
to the yard we also start each rider off with a 30 minute
private assessment.
Advanced
Advanced follows on from Intermediate.
Age limits: none. Experience: Intermediate. Time: 1 hour.
Working over small course of fences, hacking out, lateral work
and gymnastic work with your horse. As an introduction to the
yard we also start each rider off with a 30 minute private
assessment.
Private
Private — one-to-one tuition.
Age limits: 5 years and over. Experience: Beginner, Novice,
Intermediate, or Advanced. Time: 30 minutes or 1 hour (see below). Good
for working on riders position, confidence giving, intensive training
and addressing a special problem with riding technique. You can bring
your own horse, but this would require an hour lesson, to allow
instructor to see you and your horse working.30 minutes lesson with a
school horse or 1 hour with own horse.
