Under current health & safety legislation all organisations, whether run for profit or not, including charitable organisations, are required to appoint a 'competent person(s)' to assist the organisation in discharging those duties imposed upon it under any relevant health & safety statutory provisions. This is inclusive of The Fire Safety Order 2005. If the organisation has no appropriate 'competent person' employed, or the appointed employee lacks knowledge and/or experience in a particular area of health & safety which needs to be addressed, then it must appoint someone external to the organisation to provide that assistance. Consultant MICHAEL BENGE, is an experienced professional qualified to National Examination Board for Occupation Safety & Health (NEBOSH) National Diploma, a Chatered Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and menber of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM), as well as being a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner of Registered Health & Safety Consultant with IOSH. Depth of knowledge and expertise has been gained in both the private and the public sectors of industry over many years. With experience of manufacturing, construction and service industries, local authorities and the health care sector.
