Sound Testing
Pre completion sound insulation testing for new build, conversions, schools etc.
Acoustic Surveillance and Testing Ltd is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory
for conducting sound insulation testing for Part ‘E' of the building
regulations and all applications using BS EN ISO 140-4, BS EN ISO
140-7. It is accredited to ISO 17025:2005.
Using
Class 1 sound level meters, equipment and professional analysis
software, we provide detailed reports that are accepted by building
control.
Due to our wide range of experience in
testing and acoustic design, we have built up a range of data that
enables us to determine which sound proof systems and products perform
best in each application.

- Schools and establishments
- Domestic and commercial clients
- Studios and halls

Many
domestic and cimmercial clients overlook the need to engage the
expertise of an acoustic consultant. Many automatically think about
using architects, surveyors, structural engineers etc. However, with
the current regulations and noise climate, acoustic design is vital to
avoid costly mistakes on a project. Also, we have experience in testing
a lot of our own designs after they have been implemented. We therefore
have REAL field test data on how various products work.
An
acoustic design invariably costs many times less than the potential
cost of not having one. A design that may cost £400 - £600 will save £
1000's or in most cases £ 10,000's. This is often due to mis guidance
given at the beginning of the project that leads to remedial works
being carried out to correct the situation after.
We are a
UKAS accredited testing organisation to conduct sound insulation
testing. We can therefore test your premises at the end of a project.
We
have a lot of experience in complying with regulations i.e. the
Building Regulations approved document E. This stipulates the sound
insulation values that is required in new builds and conversions.
Building and room acoustics
Home
studios, cinema AV rooms, classrooms, offices, function halls etc all
require certain acoustic properties to get the best from them, and this
is where our services are invaluable. Too much reverberation will cause
undesirable effects i.e. loose speech intelligibility, reduce the
dynamics of a film in a cinema room with surround sound, cause
incorrect recording environment in a studio, create unnecessary levels
of noise thus distracting other members of staff in offices and call
centres. Acoustic Surveillance and Testing Ltd can provide sound
testing and design a solution in most cases.
Although we do
not install sound proof products, we have good contacts with
professional installation companies that can provide an installation
service for you where required..
