John Collins worked in tool design before going into lighting and furniture in 1967, becoming a director of a major lighting manufacturer in the 70s.  Serious illness forced self employment and he started 28 Lighting in 1987, selling contemporary lighting with a design service for homes, commerce and industry. 
 
The retail shop in Saffron Walden, Essex, largely displays modern lights including some well known design classics.

Design Service

Lighting is an important component of architecture so should be part of the overall design process.

Scheme design and supply is a big part of our business. Projects large or small for indoor and outdoor, commercial or domestic, using standard
fittings and ‘specials’.

We work from architects’ drawings or produce our own.

Site visits are rarely necessary so distance is unimportant.
